In 1964, Tom was born in Jackson, Mississippi. After graduating from high school, he went to study at the University of Michigan. In 1983 he graduated from Parson’s School of Design in New York City and later joined the army of Alexander McQueen’s new design team.
In 1990 he established a long-lasting friendship with Gucci Group’s then-president Maurizio Gucci and was appointed as creative director before eventually resigning on December 2nd, 1995.
In June 2004, Tom Ford launched his premium eyewear brand designed by him and Gianni Carenza, CEO of Luxottica Group SPA.
